To recognize the National School Lunch Program, serving nearly 30 million children each day, Berlin Central Schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week from October 15-18, 2024. The fun and creative campaign theme, “School Lunch Pirates: Find Your Treasure,” highlights the importance of a healthy school lunch to a student’s success both in and out of the classroom. Berlin Elementary third-grade teacher Mrs. Peter-Hoen announced the return of the ‘Book Buddies’ program, a collaborative initiative with first-grade teacher Mrs. Heinrichs, following a hiatus due to covid. Mrs. Peter-Hoen and Mrs. Heinrichs’ had run this program for over 16 years before the hiatus, pairing older and younger students based on reading strengths and interests. Read on here.
