The BCSD PTO is made up of both parent and teacher volunteers. Together we work to enhance and maximize the educational experience of our elementary, middle and high school students. We welcome you to join us in our monthly meetings.

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

The PTO organizations from the elementary and the middle/high schools recently merged. We are hoping to capitalize on those that are already volunteering while having the ability to reach out to new partners in both schools. If you are interested in joining or volunteering, or have any questions or ideas please send an email to one of the addresses below. We will post meeting dates and times by September.

Mission Statement 

Our mission at the Berlin Middle School/High School PTO is to promote and foster communications between our constituents. This includes all members of our communities, parents, teachers, and the administration. Our PTO aims to organize and promote fundraising and community events which will deepen our Mountaineer spirit and pride while enriching the lives of our children through education, social and developmental experiences.

Fundraising activities, field trips, book fairs, picture day, holiday shop and staff appreciation

 

Berlin Middle/High School PTO

Bake sales, fundraisers, faculty and staff appreciation events

PTO Officer  Descriptions:

President
The President shall serve as leader and key contact for the PTO; preside at all PTO meetings; ex-officio member of most committees; appoint chairpersons for special committees; coordinate the work of the officers and committees so that the PTO’s objectives can be met. Advise on parliamentary procedures using Robert’s Rules of Order; bring current copy of By-Laws to all meetings.

Vice President
The Vice President shall act as an aide to the President; perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve; assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Board; coordinate the general activities of any Special Committees created by the Executive Board. Ideally – is willing to serve as President in the future.

Secretary
The Communications Secretary shall keep the minutes of all general meetings and all meetings of the Executive Board; prepare correspondence and perform all other duties assigned; maintain master documents; help recruit committee chairpersons for all vacant standing committees of the board; keep the calendar of events for the PTO.

Treasurer
The Treasurer shall be responsible for and have custody of all funds, along with the President; make disbursements as properly authorized; be present at all PTO events where money will be collected; assure that PTO policies and best practices are followed with regards to funds; prepare financial reports for each meeting and as needed; prepare the books for an annual audit.

Faculty Representative
The Faculty Representative shall serve as a liaison between the PTO Board and Staff. She/he shall perform other duties as may be prescribed by the Board from time to time.

Member at Large
The Member at Large is unlike other executive board leadership such as a president or treasurer; a member at large does not have a specific role. A member at large serves as a liaison to the general membership.

The BMHS and BES  PTO have set these Facebook groups up as a way for the BCSD community to communicate about upcoming events. We ask that kindness, respect and courtesy be given to all when questions, comments, or concerns are posted. We will not tolerate hate speech or bullying of any kind. There will be no promoting of any business. This is a private group only those affiliated with the Berlin School district will be allowed.
