Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of MTSS and effective interventions
  • Create goals and objectives with teachers for Tier II and III  interventions and maintain appropriate documentation for each
  • Regularly progress monitor students to evaluate effectiveness of interventions
  • Understanding of the Science of Reading and recent research
  • Provide direct and guided instruction as informed by assessment data
  • Reinforce strategies used in the general instruction program, focusing on gaps identified through analysis of student assessment data.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers for seamless curriculum implementation
  • Serve as a member of the MTSS team

Positions:
1 Global Studies Teacher

  • 4 hours a day with students
  • 30 minutes prep (15 minutes before and 15 after student contact)

Building Substitutes

(1 Elementary & 1 Middle High School)

Summary:

Instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher. Full time, 10 month position with pay and health insurance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans, in the locations and times designated.
  • Creates a classroom that is safe, orderly, conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which they are assigned.
  • Comply with all school regulations and policies at all times.
  • Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Takes attendance and documents daily notes.
  • Compiles a report for the teacher for when they return.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in teaching is preferred.
  • Certificate in teaching is preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay/Health Insurance:

$28,000 per year for 180 workdays. Health insurance offered for the position.

Certificates:

Preferred but not required.

School Bus Driver (Floater)

  • $21.55 per hour starting. Future increases per the CSEA contract.
  • Minimum 4 hours of pay per day.
  • Two positions available. 
  • Regular school year.
  • Employed everyday students attend school.
  • Paid training offered for obtaining CDL license with Passenger and School Bus (P&S) endorsement.

Substitute Bus Driver 

General statement of duties:

 Drives a school bus on an assigned route.  

Distinguishing features of the class: 

this is manual work of average difficulty requiring skill in the operation of a large automotive vehicle. The operator is responsible for the safety and conduct of student passengers. The work is performed under general supervision with considerable leeway allowed of the operator in carrying out the details of the work. 

Examples of work: (illustrative only)

  • operates a school bus on a regular schedule or on special occasions
  • performs a thorough pre-trip of the bus before operating
  • reports any operation defects to mechanics
  • informs children of safety practices 
  • maintains orderly conduct on the bus 
  • keeps interior and exterior of bus clean 
  • may be required to operate smaller buses
  • maintain daily log book , route, times and incidents 

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

Good knowledge of safety driving practices and traffic laws and regulations; ability to operate a bus under difficult driving and road conditions; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to get along well with children and other adults. Have mental alertness, dependability; good physical condition

Must be 21 years of age at time of application and must satisfy the requirements set forth in the rules and regulations of the New York state of education.

Appropriate driver license: eligibility for a Class B license with a passenger and school bus endorsement.

Substitute Bus Attendant

Distinguishing Feature of the Class:

The work involves responsibility for assisting the bus driver in maintaining order on the bus and for overseeing the loading and unloading of student passengers and for administering to their needs, comfort and conduct while in transit on the bus. Supervision is exercised over the conduct of student passengers. Primary focus is the care and supervision of various students including those with IEP’s (Individual Education Plan)

Typical Work Activities: (Illustrative Only) 

  • Makes certain that passengers are seated
  • Assist handicapped students with getting in and off the bus and being seated Ability to use wheelchair lifts with the assistance of the bus driver if needed
  • Assists students and driver with engaging and disengaging a harness, booster seat or any other device as needed
  • May render specialized care (if trained) for students in need ( IEP requirements) 
  •  Must be alert and watch for medical problems, seizures, breathing difficulties, allergies and other medical problems. Personal upsets, withdrawal, crying and depression. 
  • Must be physically and emotionally able to deal with and handle emergencies.
  • clean up bodily fluids 
  • keep student area in the bus clean

Full performance knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics:   

  •   good general intelligence
  • familiarity with the various bus routes in the district and their stopping places for students 
  • ability to get along with students, ability to understand and follow simple oral directions
  •  Working knowledge of basic first aid methods
  • physical and emotional condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 Minimum qualifications:     

  • graduation from high school        
  • two years’ experience; or all equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of above any specialized training as required by the state education department
