Professional Development & APPR

News

(10/19/2023) — The Berlin CSD APPR (Annual Professional Performance Review) and Professional Development Committees both completed their BOE approved plans for the 2023-2024 School Year. Berlin CSD would like to acknowledge all the hard work put into the creation of these documents by the Superintendent, Administrative Team, and Teacher Committee Members.

Definitions & Purpose

Berlin CSD APPR and Professional Development work in tandem to evaluate instructional strengths and areas of improvement to then provide training opportunities for growth. APPR stands for Annual Professional Performance Review and it is the process by which teachers and principals are evaluated in New York State. The intent of APPR is to assist educators to improve the quality of instruction in schools and, in turn, to improve students’ performance and readiness for colleges and careers. Professional Development is the set of tools, resources, and training sessions for educators to improve or maintain their teaching quality and effectiveness. These resources allow instructors to further their knowledge in their content area, allows for mentorship and the opportunity to learn the most current teaching techniques.
