How do I become a Link Leader?
- Teacher Recommendation and/or genuine desire to support younger students
- Upperclassmen Junior/Senior
- Good role model for younger students
- Have had a successful experience in high school
- Good communication and leadership skills, demonstrate responsibility, have a pleasant personality
- Sign-ups take place in the spring. It is usually by teacher recommendation, however, if you want to be part of the program, you are welcome to apply
What do Link Leaders do?
- Link leaders are trained to work with incoming freshmen who are entering Berlin HS in the fall. After extensive training, Link Leaders run a freshman orientation before school begins. At orientation, each leader will take a small group of freshmen to work with that day and will be asked to befriend and help that group during the first week of school with any challenges that they face. Periodically during the school year, Link Leaders will meet again with their student groups to touch base, discuss problems, and plan social activities.
- Link Leaders will be going on a field trip next week to CTK (ropes course/zip line course) and other team-building activities! We will be going back in the spring with the freshman class

W.E.B. Where Everyone Belongs
Co-advisors: Meredith Hammond and Donna Kelly
This stands for “Where Everyone Belongs”. Ms. Hammond and Ms., Kelly head this program where 8th graders help the incoming 6th graders become familiar with our Berlin Middle School. W.E.B. trains 8th grade students to be mentors. They guide the 6th graders to be successful during their transition to middle school and throughout the sixth grade school year. The 6th graders receive support and guidance from the 8th graders who understand the transition to middle school. Students can help students succeed!
If you would like more information, feel free to contact Ms. Hammond mhammond@berlincentral.org and Mrs. Kelly dkelly@berlincentral.org.
