Vision of the PPS Department at Berlin CSD
The Berlin PPS Department recognizes that all students have different strengths, needs, and ways of learning. We strive to embrace individual interests while meeting students’ needs in an inclusive and integrated environment. We believe in setting high standards and expectations with a commitment to excellence for all students. We will foster a community of learners that are dedicated to becoming contributing members of their community through the pursuit of their individual passions and goals.
We will obtain this vision by:
- Providing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support through accommodations, modifications, services, and specially designed instruction to students (with disabilities) in a safe, inclusive, educationally appropriate environment.
- Creating and sustaining a restorative community that meets students and families where they are, respects individual voices, and allows stakeholders to repair harm when it occurs.
- Working collaboratively with district-wide departments as well as community members and resources.
- Providing on-going support to all staff and families through open communication and professional development.
- Implementing culturally responsive educational practices that include topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Using qualitative and quantitative data gathered from formal and informal sources to inform practices.
- Staying up to date on practices, interventions, technology, resources, etc. that will remove barriers for students to academic success.
