The Bug Beats are going to STATES!!!
Congratulations to the BES Odyssey of the Mind team: Willamina Woodcock, Shayana Peterson, Devlin Maciong-Crimmel, Elizah Harrison, Daniel Hart and Jacqueline Morstad!! The team won 2nd place in their division for the competition problem posed to them, Problem 5 Division-1-Rocking World Tour, out of 8 teams! They received the top score for the long-term problem, which was their skit.
Odyssey of the Mind Long-Term Problem Synopses of Problem 5 Division-1-Rocking World Tour: Are you ready to rock? Here is your opportunity! In this problem, OM teams will create a performance about a rock band on tour. Things get derailed in a very Odyssey way — while playing a song, the band is transported to an unexpected location. The band members must figure out how to use music to get them back on their tour. The performance will also include band merchandise and original hairstyles.
The team received a lottery spot and will be going to Syracuse, NY on April 13th, to compete in the STATE COMPETITION! New York State Odyssey of the Mind awards lottery spots to specific problem and division competitors who may have not placed 1st but were very competitive in specific parts of their presentations. The Mountaineers’ earned one of three lottery spots for Problem 5.
The team will now take the feedback from the judges at regionals and apply it to their next round of competition. The Bug Beats will be competing at the NYS fairgrounds on April 13th. – Odyssey of the Mind coaches Mrs. Bersaw, Mrs. Scanlon and Mrs. Winner
BES Principal Mrs. Kent and Assistant Principal Mrs. Cataldo were so impressed with the Mountaineer team’s performance last Saturday. They along with the BES staff and students are so proud of the team and wish them the best of luck at States!
Go Bug Beats!
