This year Berlin CSD’s Spring Break begins on Friday, March 29th and classes will resume on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.  Each school year, Berlin Central School District makes provisions for up to six emergency closings by building them into the school calendar. The district has used three emergency closures this school year and has three emergency closing days left that do not need to be made up. Barring the need to use anymore of these allotted emergency closure days, the district will be closed on the following dates: April 8, May 24 and May 28.

Please review all the district calendar amendments for the 2023-2024 school year and Solar Eclipse safety tips and information below.

Solar Eclipse Resources and Safety Information

Monday, April 8, 2024, North America will experience a total Solar Eclipse. In our area on that day the moon will block our view of the sun starting at 2:12 pm with the Maximum Eclipse (96% coverage) at 3:27 pm and the eclipse will end at about 4:37 pm. (https://eclipsesoundscapes.org/eclipse-lookup-tool/)

The Berlin Central School District will not be in session on April 8, 2024. The districts’ decision to  close will allow for all students to be able to experience the eclipse safely at home. This is the first total solar eclipse to hit New York State since 1925.  A solar eclipse will occur in the same place only once every 400 years.
