It’s been another exciting year for Breakout of a Book Night! Over 25% of the K-5 students participated. The 5th graders were particularly impressive this year with a 50% sign-up rate.  For the first time in the history of the contest, all three games had an over 70 percent breakout completion! Well done!
In the K/1 competition Nora Derstine got first place, Helena von Schilgen took second, and Raymond Hammersmith finished third.

In the 2/3 bracket Ava von Schilgen & Averi Theroet placed first, Carson Hasbrouck got second, and Michael Zinna & Ryan Sausville took third place.

Otis Corbett took first place in the 4/5 group. Charlie Sausville finished in second place. Anthony Roberts came in third place.

Snake Cube Raffle Winners were Asher Miner, Jason Demers, Finlei Sweeney, Alana Kellar, Maggie Etman, Sophia Pasinello, Taylor Doty, Duncan Thompson, Leyla Saviano, Jocelyn Webster, and Julia Turetsky. Congratulations to everyone who participated!

This is my ninth year at BES, and I could not be more grateful to be a part of this wonderful community. I’d like to thank the BCSD PTO for providing the prizes, the teachers of BES for promoting the contest in their classrooms, Rachel Turetsky for advertising on social media, and BES Assistant Principal Jodi Cataldo for co-hosting with me this year. I’d also like to give a special shout out to Colin Hasbrouck, Otis Corbett, and Landon Akin, my 5th grade voice actors who performed the breakout character introductions.  – BES Game Master and Librarian Ms. Mitchell
