Berlin Elementary Librarian Ms. Jennifer Mitchell and Middle High School Librarian Ms. Jennifer Overocker attended a “Showcase of Excellence” conference for all Questar III Regional Librarians on December 5th.
Ms. Mitchell along with seven regional librarians, gave presentations about tools they feel have enhanced their School Library Programs.
Last school year, our very own BES Game Master Ms. Mitchell was officially certified as an ambassador of BreakoutEDU! This has been an exciting opportunity for Ms. Mitchell who has been training Ms. Overocker in the program as well.
Ms. Mitchell was asked to present during the showcase because of her experience and successes at BES with Breakout Boxes. During the presentation Mitchell discussed and demonstrated the various ways in which she has utilized BreakoutEDU at the Berlin Central School District.
Ms. Mitchell uses Breakout Boxes for enrichment classes with Kindergarten and first graders, holds sessions with older students on how to design Breakouts, and hosts an annual BES Breakout of a Book Night.
“I led my fellow librarians through a digital breakout from the first year of Breakout of a Book Night, and a physical breakout I made on the Dewey Decimal system,” said Ms. Mitchell about her presentation.
The conference was an opportunity to highlight Ms. Mitchell’s hard work developing the program at BES and for both Ms. Overocker and Ms. Mitchell to meet and collaborate with regional librarians.
Ms. Overocker and Ms. Mitchell have recently been preparing new Breakout Boxes for their students and have also been in the planning phases for this school year’s Breakout of a Book Night at BES.
Stay tuned for more information on that coming soon!
