The Character Education trait during the month of May at Berlin Elementary was hope, to cherish a desire with anticipation: to want something to happen or be true.

During the assembly the BES Character Education team shared what hope means and talked about how we can hope for good things to happen for others in our community.  Third grade students then shared their hopes for the fifth grade Mountaineers as they prepare to move on to middle school. The words of hope served as encouragement for the fifth graders as they finish their last school year in the elementary building.

Next stop Middle School 5th grade Mountaineers! BES hopes you have smooth sailing into Middle School, but don’t forget we are all still here at BES rooting for you!

A BES Mountaineer is responsible, safe and respectful. Merits are given out by BES staff and bus drivers to celebrate Mountaineers who demonstrate these traits. The recipients receive merits that are deposited in the Mountaineer Merit container in BES’s main hallway.

This month there were 329 K- 2nd grade Merits and 225 3rd – 5th grade Merits.  That is a total of 616 Merits awarded throughout the month for being responsible, safe and respectful Mountaineers! Great job BES!

Each month, Principal Kent and Assistant Principal Cataldo draw the names of ten merit recipients (five from kindergarten to second grade and five from third to fifth grade), who receive a prize and recognition at the assemblies.

Congratulations to May’s Mountaineer Merit Winners: Jason Goyer, Dylan Manchester, Ivy Kennedy, Jaxson Williams, Riley Bink, James Forrest, Laelah Stone, Chance Burdick, Ivan Buck and Brave Morstad
