Berlin CSD is excited to welcome Ms. Sarah Leonard, Berlin Middle High School Social Worker, Ms. Chelsea Rathbun, Buildings and Grounds Senior Typist and Mr. Myles Goss as the Interim Director of Pupil Personnel Services.

Sarah Leonard

Berlin Middle High School

Social Worker

 

What is your education background?

I have completed my undergraduate degree at UAlbany- Sociology, my masters degree at Capella University- Social Work and completed a Drug and Alcohol Counseling Certificate Program and SUNY Tompkins Cortland Community College to become a prospective drug and alcohol counselor.  I am NYS Licensed Master Social Work (LMSW) and Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T).

What is your background like – previous jobs?

I have worked at Vanderheyden’s Residential Treatment Center for 8 years as both a Case Manager, Case Management Supervisor and Diagnostic Clinician.

How long have you been working in the district?

 I started working for the district at the Berlin Middle High School on May 1, 2023.

Tell us about your family?

 I have two children in the district ages 14 and 5. My husband owns a local Masonry Company, and we live on a small family farm in the area.

What are your interests outside of school?

My children and I are passionate about riding and showing horses. Most of our free time is spent on the road traveling to lessons, clinics and horse shows.

 

Chelsea Rathbun

Buildings & Grounds Senior Typist

 

What is your background like – previous jobs?

In my previous jobs I worked in an office setting doing clerical work, answering phones and working in accounts payable.
How long have you been working in the district?

I have been working for the district since April of this year.

Tell us about your family?

My husband and I have two daughters, Maddie who will be 3 in November, and Rylee who is 4 months old.

What are your interests outside of school?

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family, singing, and doing anything outdoors.

 

 

 

Myles Goss

Berlin Central School District

Interim Director of Pupil Personnel Services

What is your education background?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Psychology from Northwestern University
  • Certificate of Advanced Study in School Psychology from the University at Albany
  • Masters Degree in Educational Measurement and Statistics from the University at Albany
  • Master’s degree in School Administration from the University at Albany

What is your background like – previous jobs?

I have worked as a school psychologist in Lansingburgh, Chatham and Brunswick. At Brunswick, I also worked as Director of Special Education, Chief Information Officer, Homeless Liaison, and Technology Coordinator. Prior to working as a school psychologist, I worked as a mental health counselor in Lincoln, Nebraska and worked in group homes in the Glens Falls area serving developmentally disabled adults, and at a group home in Albany for boys.

Tell us about your family?

I have five sisters and two brothers who all still live in the area. My mother is 93 and still lives independently. I am married with three adult children – Becky, who is the assistant superintendent at Lansingburgh, Jenny who is a project executive with a regional construction company, and Dan, who works as a policy analyst at the Department of Conservation. My wife is now retired (so am I, technically). She worked as a nurse practitioner at various agencies in the Capital Region.

What are your interests outside of school?

I’m a big fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. I enjoy hiking, camping and golfing. I love to travel and have been to every state except Alaska.
