On April 15th, BES’ Odyssey of the Mind (OotM) team competed at OotM State Finals at the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY. The team presented their regional first place winning creative, humorous, and dramatic performance of Problem 5, “The Most Dramatic Problem Ever”.

At state finals they competed against 16 teams and placed 7th overall for their division!

“We are so proud of how hard this team worked,” said BES OotM coach Courtney Bersaw, when reflecting on the team’s perseverance and creativity throughout their journey to the NYS finals.

“Their dedication and hard work was impressive!”

BES’ OotM coaches Mrs. Stephanie Scanlon, Mrs. Courtney Bersaw, and Mrs. Carol Winner would like to give special shout outs to all the team’s families for their continued dedication and flexibility!

Thanks also goes to Mrs. Deanna Baker and the BES staff who raised funds to help get the team to Syracuse.

“It was a tremendous help and we couldn’t have done it without you!” said Mrs. Bersaw.

Congratulations Willamina Woodcock, Tristen MacMillen, Shayana Peterson, Devlin Maciong-Crimmel, Elizah Harrison, Peyton Bink and Dannie Young.

“What an incredible accomplishment for your first ever appearance at this level of competition,” said BES Principal Tracy Kent.
