On September 21, Berlin Elementary fifth graders took a trip to Dyken Pond. Josh and Kelsey from the Dyken Pond Environmental Center split the fifth grade Mountaineers into two groups. The first was an orienteering session where students learned how to use a compass to find their direction in a field and also on a forest trail. In the second group students learned about the layers of the forest and took a hike into the woods to draw these layers.
It was a wonderful experience for the fifth grade students and a great way to start their final BES school year together. -Mrs. Walsh BES 5th Grade Science Teacher
