What it is One School, One Book?
This is the first time all Berlin Elementary students will listen to the same book being read aloud in their classroom each day. This event will begin today, April 1st and end May 6th.
Kick Off Day
TODAY, April 1st is the kick off day. The book was revealed to the students as they arrived to school today! BES teachers also took time to bring their students down and talk about the excitement ahead. Students were able to see a beautiful “Big Book” created by BES’ wonderful artist and second grade teacher Mrs. Karyn Healy for the reveal.
Weekly Trivia & Classroom Prizes
At the end of the week classrooms will hand in the trivia questions for the week. The trivia questions are based on chapters read during the week. Before the end of the day on Friday we will randomly pick one of the completed trivia papers. The classroom who is picked will receive a small classroom prize. For example, a classroom prize might be a popcorn party.
Video Teacher Readings
Be on the lookout for videos that show our wonderful teachers reading individual chapters of the book.
Classroom Visits
Humphrey and Og, our main characters, will take turns visiting each classroom for the day.
Friendship Celebration (May 6th)
To culminate our book we will have a friendship party. On this day students will be given their own copy of the book to keep.
