On Monday, Berlin CSD’s Transportation Supervisor Jeaneatte Alderman took interim Superintendent Dr. Maureen Long on a rainy ride around the 160 square miles of the district.

“I had an amazing opportunity, thanks to Mrs. Alderman, to learn about the communities and terrain that make up our district,” said Dr. Long, who travelled on about 80 miles of the district’s roads.

“It was a beautiful ride, despite the weather, making me better understand and appreciate the hard work our drivers do every day, to get our students safely to and from school.”

Dr. Long, a lifelong resident of Rensselaer County, appreciates the importance of getting a sense of the district’s roads as we head into winter weather season.

As a reminder to Berlin families, they should be sure to tune into the district’s messaging platforms when winter weather advisories cause delays, cancellations or early dismissals.

This information is communicated through school messenger calls, postings on the district’s website, shared on its social media platforms, and reported to the local news channels.

BCSD wishes its Mountaineer Community safe travels on the roads this winter season. And when meeting school buses, please remember, “Stop on Red Kids Ahead!”
