Maintaining balance in life is important as we take on more responsibilities. Knowing what we need to do to stay balanced is important. On 11/7, 8th grade Berlin Middle School WEB leaders presented a lesson on maintaining emotional balance to the 6th grade students. There was a physical activity using yard sticks to stress balance. This was followed up with a group conversation and writing activity.
During the same time, 11th and 12th grade Berlin High School LINK leaders were engaging in a prioritization survival activity with 9th grade students. LINK leaders walked the freshmen through a hypothetical activity that left them stranded in Alaska for two weeks with minimal supplies. Prioritizing items for survival individually and then in a group, freshmen relied on critical thinking skills, communication, and compromise in order to ensure hypothetical survival. The activity was fun for all and left many students thinking about their choices (both in the simulation and for life in general) throughout the day.
LINK and WEB leaders are looking forward to their next activity – an after school event creating gingerbread houses in December. Stay tuned for more details!

Tomorrow, November 7th, Berlin Middle High School’s W.E.B. and LINK Leaders will be hosting the first W.E.B. and LINK event.
This is the first of three events that will be held throughout the school year. A copy of the abbreviated schedule for tomorrow 11/7 is attached below.
The goal of W.E.B and LINK is to build community and ease the transitions from elementary to middle school (W.E.B.) and middle school to high school (LINK).
W.E.B. and LINK leaders have been working hard after school to prepare the lessons and activities that will be shared with their Mountaineer peers tomorrow.
During this time sophomore, junior, and senior Mountaineers will meet with their class advisors for class meetings and/or activities.
