Congratulations to BCSD Communications Liaison Rachel Turetsky who will be honored with the Capital Area School Development Association (CASDA) Friends of Education Award! CASDA presents this award to recognize the selfless contributions of individuals who dedicate themselves to serving students and enriching their school communities.

Rachel is a staff member as well as a parent and community member in the Berlin Central School District. Her official title is Communications Liaison, but her impact on the school district is far ranging. Since joining the BCSD staff, Rachel has helped the district to develop a comprehensive website and to grow its social media presence for the better. Rachel is present at almost every school event such as concerts, plays, special days, assemblies, and sporting events. She is there not only to take photos and share the good news, but she is also one of the district’s biggest supporters. Berlin Middle/High School Principal Kimberly Brownell shared how she feels about Rachel, “We all feel very grateful to have Rachel as our Communications Liaison and are thankful for how she joyfully showcases all of the wonderful things happening within BCSD. Rachel helps to make all of the students, faculty, and staff within BCSD feel appreciated and noticed”.

Berlin Central School District Superintendent of Schools, Joseph Dhara shared, “Rachel embodies the qualities that we would desire in any district communications personnel – listening to the students, community and stakeholders; diligent and truthful in reporting news; working extended hours to capture necessary information; reflective on her own practices and its impact on the district and community; and always thinking outside the box to make our communications more relevant to all. We are proud to have Rachel as our Communications Liasion and a part of the Berlin family.”

Mrs. Turetsky will be awarded at the CASDA Annual Awards and Friends of Education Celebration on Thursday, April 20th at Franklin Terrace in Troy, NY.
