On Saturday, January 14th the Berlin Future City team came together for a great performance at the Capital District Regional Future City Competition.

Future City is a hands-on cross-curricular educational middle school Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) competition which brings STEM to life for students. Students are tasked with designing a futuristic city for the competition with innovative solutions to some of today’s most pressing sustainability issues, this year’s focus was climate change.

Our Berlin team brought home three trophies! They were awarded the Greenest City, Most Neighborly City and 5th place in the overall competition!
Congratulations to Easton Montanye, Roddy Gardell, Luke Turetsky, Savannah Hammon, Mary Perkins, Kenny Bull and Damon Vickery. Thank you to all of the students who supported the team along the way. We look forward to growing next year. Any middle school student interested in joining the team for next year, please see Mrs. Hayes or Mr. Scannell. -Coach Hayes and Coach Scannell

NYS Senator Jake Ashby was a guest at the competition and was happy to get in a photo with the young Rensselaer County students he represents. Way to go Mountaineers!!!
