BNL JV Falls to the Panthers

The JV boys basketball team traveled to Hoosick Falls on Monday in an evening matchup against the Panthers.

Anthony Ray paced the BNL offense with 12 points. Brothers Jeramiah and Richard Gates both showed solid play offensively and defensively when called upon to fill in for an injured Trevor Holtzman who went down early in the 1st. Trevor did battle back to reenter the game and contributed offensively and defensively as well. Mikel Chinchetru and Landon Jaquish showed leadership potential by coordinating play and communication on offense and defense.

Coach Jaquish went on the record to say, “Our bench is really stepping up and coming together. They are earning their time on the floor by constantly improving play in game and effort in practice. Trust is being built and we are keeping our competitive edge when our starters sub out. That’s huge.” Coach Moseley nodded in agreement. -Coach Jaquish and Assistant Coach Moseley

BNL JV Keeps it Close Against Cambridge

Playing in their New Lebanon facility, the BNL Boys JV basketball team played a close game against Cambridge Wednesday. Leading the way offensively for BNL was Anthony Ray, putting up 16 points in the contest. Cleared of his injury designation, Trevor Holtzman also played a key role on offense, scoring 12 points of his own. Playing with a sense of urgency, the intensity was ramped up to at least level 8 after halftime. Defensive play on the court gave BNL a fighting chance entering the second half, helping to slash a 20+ point halftime deficit. Mikel Chinchetru and Landon Jaquish each continued to accumulate steals and force additional turnovers. BNL was able to convert the majority of these opportunities into points in the process of fighting back to as close as eight points early in the 4th quarter.

After the game, Coach Jaquish was telling an assembled crowd of parents and fans, “Great all-around effort by everybody tonight. I try my best to get everyone in while staying competitive. These guys are getting better daily and are really starting to work well together. I expect them to work hard every game and that’s exactly what they do in practice and during games. Not only for me but for themselves as a team and this community.”

Assistant Coach Moseley praised the competitiveness demonstrated by the team. “They never gave up, even when down 20+. The fact that they were able to rally together, and tighten things up enough to draw down Cambridge’s lead to just 8 points after being down, that’s more proof they have what it takes. They just need to find a way to play that way for a full game.” -Coach Jaquish and Assistant Coach Moseley
