BNL Varsity Basketball vs Greenwich 12/6 Coach Recap

On Tuesday, your Berlin-New Lebanon boys varsity basketball team battled against a tough Greenwich opponent. Our guys fought hard and were only down 11-5 after the first quarter. The second and third quarters proved to be difficult for BNL. Greenwich forced a number of costly turnovers and converted those opportunities into points consistently. Playing from behind, BNL became overly aggressive and daring on offense while attempting to close the gap. Multiple key BNL players also found themselves getting into foul trouble.

While the middle quarters were challenging, BNL put together a strong showing in the fourth quarter, out-scoring Greenwich 23-19. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, Greenwich came away victorious. Chris Shorter stood out this game as he tallied 27 total points.

“It’s abundantly clear that the desire to work, improve, and win is present in this group. They show up to practice with energy and enthusiasm and they help each other improve rather than cast blame for mistakes. I see multiple players logging dozens, even hundreds of extra reps outside of official practice times. That’s the level of effort and commitment it takes to turn programs around. There is a cultural shift taking place within the team and program and I am certain that BNL has what it takes to be competitive and win.” – Assistant Coach Moseley

Coach Snyder said this following the game, “Our boys battled hard. I think we are heading in the right direction and developing a solid program here. If we limited turnovers and fouls this game, better executing on offense, this game would have had a different outcome. Despite the loss, our guys are going to build on this and continue to be competitive in our league.”
