BNL Modified Boys Soccer Rises to the Occasion Against Greenwich 10/17

Despite being down multiple players, the BNL Boys Modified Soccer Team defeated Greenwich Monday 5-1.

BNL had to call upon their bench to fill in for a number of missing players this game. The first half was marked with tough defensive play by both teams and the cold, wet field conditions slowed the pace of play.  However, midway though the first, Tyler Webster took a direct kick and placed it just over the Greenwich goalies hands, lifting BNL to a 1-0 lead.  After a few good saves by Jack Healy, Greenwich managed to bring the score to a tie with a goal off the crossbar just before the half’s whistle.

The second half appeared to be a repeat of the first.  However, Tyler Webster managed to sneak a pass through Greenwich’s defensive line to Gabe Smith who drilled BNL’s second goal into the net.  More adversity struck BNL soon after, as they had to play a man down through the last of the third and full fourth quarter with a red card pulled on Jack Mace.  Despite this setback, BNL kept their heads in the game and rallied around each other, maintaining control for the rest of the game.  Tyler Webster scored two more goals to complete the hat trick, with assists by Levi Giumarra and Bradley Schwartz.  Anthony DeLaurentis contributed one more with an assist from Jackson Glaski.

This was a game that could have easily resulted in a different outcome. However, the team stepped in and stepped up to demonstrate excellent offensive or defensive soccer wherever they were asked to play.

BNL improves to 8-2-1 with one final game remaining on the schedule, an away game at Tamarac on Wednesday October 19th. -Coach Moseley and Coach Crimmel
