BNL Defeats Hoosic Valley 2-0

The BNL Modified Boys Soccer team emerged victorious after a hard fought, rain soaked match at home against Hoosic Valley, winning 2-0.  As this was BNL’s final home game of the season, the team was privileged and honored to be able to host Hoosic Valley on the new Berlin soccer field.  The team recognized the significance of the moment and they played their best game so far this season.

The front six combo – Lukas Zuke, Markell Popov, Tyler Webster, Andrew Crimmel, Jack Hart and Heyden Chittenden were able to generate significant offensive pressure early in the contest.  Crisp, clean passing and controlled touches led to a 1st quarter goal by Lukas Zuke assisted by Markell Popov.  The defense, headlined by Jack Healy, Joseph Zvirzdin, Chris June, Braydin Yerdon, and Zeke Colin stifled Hoosic Valley through their first rotation.  Hoosic Valley threatened the goal more and more as the game progressed, but defensive subs including Louie Gardell, Tyler Lumpkin, Garrett Morgan, and Bradley Schwartz brought their all to deflect and disrupt plays.

The game remained a 1-0 battle until midway through the 4th quarter, when Tyler Webster fed Jack Hart on the right wing who took the pass and drilled a shot into the net, lifting BNL to a 2-0 lead and the final score of the game.

Overall, BNL left it all on the field as they defended their (brand new) home turf.  Rotational players contributed with excellent ball movement and offensive pressure, and defensive play from Jack Mace, Gabe Smith, Levi Guimarra, Jackson Glaski, Kyle Gryn, Joseph Chubb, and Kioi Muturi.

The Berlin-New Lebanon Boys improved their record to 6-2-1 for the season.  They will travel for a rematch with Hoosic Valley tomorrow, Friday, October 14th. -Coach Moseley and Coach Crimmel
