BNL went out to Voorhesville to compete in the annual Black Bird Invitational on Saturday 9/10. Both the boys and the girls had strong showings.
For the girls team, Elsie Corbett led the team and most of the other girls to finish in 9th place with an overall time of 22:19. Following her in her first race ever for Cross Country was Vivian Whelan with a 25:14 and 22nd place, Sam Rojker in 31st with 26:12, and Elaine Savaria in 39th with a time of 28:10. While not having enough runners to place as a team the girls had a strong showing and look ready for their next invitational at Queensbury.
The boys showed up with a strong core group of runners that make them tough competition for everyone. Gabe Kalisz finished in 5th place with a mile split time of 5:49, meaning he ran on average a 5:39 mile the whole race, and a total time of 18:07. In 30th place was freshman Lance Schroder with an outstanding time of 21:17. In 39th place was Aidan Van Dyk with 22:08, Raymond Ericson in his first Cross Country race with a time of 22:13 and 43rd place, Daniel Hendricks in 44th with a time of 22:20, and in 55th was Eben Donohue who powered through to a 23:54 time. The boys took a strong 6th place finish as a team and are within sprinting distance of catching Stillwater for control of the league this year.
