Dear BMHS Parents/Guardians:

I am writing to inform you about PM school, which is a tutoring opportunity BMHS is offering to our students.  The Commissioner of Education in the State of New York recommends that students who miss school due to a medically excused absence or an out of school suspension be provided equivalent instruction in order to remain current in, or to recover any classroom instruction that may have been missed. To provide the best opportunities for learning, we at the Berlin Middle/High School will be providing 2 hours of instruction for 7th-12th grades and 1 hour of instruction for 6th grade with certified teachers for any students who have a recorded absence(s) who meet this criteria.  This is being done in the best interest of your child in order to receive all the instruction we can offer. We will be including any students who have an absence. However, only those students with a homebound medical or medically excused designation will be able to recover their attendance.

Below you will find information pertinent to the tutoring we will be providing.  All tutoring for PM school will take place in-person and on campus at BMHS.  You will be notified via phone by a BMHS staff member if your student has been invited to participate in PM school.  Students should report to the main office at 2:50 p.m. to check-in and then will be escorted to the tutoring room location.  For those taking advantage of the online option for recovering attendance through iTutor, this option is still available.  Our PM school is our in-person tutoring alternative to support our students in recovering their attendance.

Date of in-person PM School Tutoring:

Monday through Thursdays from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm

*If your child needs a ride home at 5:00 p.m., they must sign up for the late bus during their lunch.

Attendance matters, and lost instruction greatly impacts your student’s long term learning.

Thank you for supporting us in helping your child reach their full academic potential.

Sincerely,

Kimberly J. Brownell

MS/HS Principal
