“We are very proud of Bailey,” said Bailey Catlin’s mother, Gina Catlin, as she and husband Todd watched their daughter signing a letter of commitment to the College of Saint Rose in Albany.

“She has worked extremely hard on the field and more importantly in the classroom,” Mrs. Caitlin said, during the March 10th celebration in the Berlin Middle High School Gymnasium.

A Berlin High School senior, Bailey had verbally committed to the Saint Rose Golden Knights back in January. Now she made it official in front of family, which included her grandparents, Allan and Betty Kreiger.

Also at the event were mentors, teachers, administrators, coaches, teammates and friends.

“She has reached her goal of playing softball at the next level,” said Mrs. Catlin.

Bailey has excelled as a softball player, especially as a pitcher, and will be competing to be a Golden Knights pitcher in the fall.

“Berlin Central School District is very proud of her accomplishments,” said Middle High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, Charles Paravella, who has been able to witness Bailey as an impressive leader in the school community.

“Bailey epitomizes what it means to be a student athlete. She performs at a high level, both on the field and in the classroom.”

When asked about advice for younger Mountaineers, Bailey said, “Focus on your goals because nothing is ever given for free.

“Always remember, however, that academics come before any athletic goals you have in mind. If you want to be taken seriously, take your education seriously.”

“Bailey never gives up,” said Berlin-New Lebanon Softball and Volleyball Coach, Paul Slaver, who has been coaching Bailey in Berlin since 7th grade. “She is very down to earth, and her motivation to get better and better every day is outstanding.

“She not only tries to make herself better but lifts everyone up around her as well. Bailey will be missed by the BNL Athletic program.”

“I am really excited about joining the program that has been built at Saint Rose,” Bailey said, with high hopes for her future in college softball.

“All the girls are very welcoming, and the coaching staff is amazing. I can’t wait to compete at a high level within the NE-10 conference! Thank you, everyone, who has helped during my journey!”

“Go Golden Knights!”
