Attention grade 8-11 students and parents: Mrs. Harrison and Ms. Testa will be starting the course selection process with students in a couple of weeks! Counselors will be meeting with students to discuss courses they are interested in taking for the 2021-22 school year. Please read the letter below for more information and reach out to Mrs. Harrison or Ms. Testa with any questions.

Dear Parents and Students:

As we begin the planning process for the 2021-22 school year, we are continuing to strive for an increase in communication with parents and students during the course selections. Additionally, our goal is to better inform students about courses that are both mandatory and available to take throughout their time in high school.

On Monday February 22nd, students in grades 8-11 participated in our first Virtual Course Selection Assembly. During this time each academic department presented to students the courses and electives that are offered for the 2021-22 school year. It is important that students have an idea of what classes they are interested in taking next year, so that they can communicate this to their school counselor for their course selection appointment in the counseling office.

Course selection appointments will be on March 11th and 12th. Students in grade 9, 10 and 11 will be meeting with their school counselor during their English classes.  Remote only students will still meet with their counselor individually on Zoom during their English classes beginning March 15th (link will be provided).  It is important that students come prepared with the courses and electives they are interested in taking on the day of their scheduled appointment.

Grade 8 students will receive passes from their counselors starting on Tuesday March 16th, to meet during their lunch, study hall or through zoom on Wednesdays to discuss their course interests and choose an elective for grade 9.

Students and parents can go to the Berlin Central School homepage and access the Curriculum Guide by clicking on the Counseling Center tab. Any students or parents that would like to watch the virtual assembly can visit the link below.
