Today we were informed of a positive test for COVID-19 for a student of the BCSD who attends the Berlin Elementary School. As per New York State Education Department and New York State Department of Health guidelines, the District worked directly with Rensselaer County DoH to determine the next steps to take for the Berlin Central School District.

The Rensselaer County Department of Health assessed the situation and has determined that additional contact tracing needed to be performed. The DoH and District have identified additional students and staff that will be quarantined. While we fully understand you would like additional details, we are not permitted by privacy laws to identify the student or staff members involved.

As a reminder, if you believe you or a family  may have come into contact with a Covid-19 positive individual or if you are experiencing any of the symptoms, please contact our COVID Resource Liaison, Michele Corsey, RN at mcorsey@berlincentral.org or by phone at (518) 658-1500 ext. 1061.

In these challenging times, rest assured that the District’s priority is protecting the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff.  We will be complying with any NYSED, NYSDOH, or CDC orders and guidance related to the continuation of teaching and learning in our schools.

Please stay healthy by following the CDC guidelines including mask wearing, hand-washing, and social distancing.
