BNL Varsity Girls Soccer vs Hoosick Fall 10/12

The BNL Varsity Girls soccer team continued their strong end to the regular season with a 6-0 away win over Hoosick Falls last night. The team’s intense start led to several shots on goal in the opening ten minutes of the match, before sophomore Haylee Jones put away her own PK after being brought down in the box. Haylee would make it 2-0 when her corner kick found the back post, going into halftime. The lady mountain lions upped the intensity in the second half, playing some wonderful passing patterns and creating 2 v. 1 overloads. Haylee Jones would play a killer through pass to Riley Robertson on the right wing who put away BNL’s third, and Haylee would add a fourth off a similar through pass from Lizzy Hunt. Jessica Bosso would add a fifth off a Lizzy Hunt pass back into the middle of the pitch, and sophomore Lilly Meyers would add the icing on the cake with her first varsity goal from outside the eighteen yard box. BNL’s clean sheet was led by an impressive defensive showing anchored by Lilly Gardell and Lyndsey Pratt, and several important key saves from keeper Becca Madsen, who saved a total of 12 shots to keep the clean sheet. BNL Modified Boys Soccer vs Hoosick Falls Coach Recap 10/12

The modified boys soccer team matched up well against the Hoosick Falls squad. The first quarter proved that both teams were able to move the ball into a scoring position while our respective defenses held strong. Kioi Muturi broke away several times, eventually passing the ball into the net to put BNL ahead. BNL continued to find success in moving the ball up the field, pressuring Hoosick Falls repeatedly. Ryland Crowley made a well timed pass to Levi Giumarra 10 yards out and Levi didn’t waste any time driving the ball into the top left corner bringing the score to 2-0. Owen Mendoza found his way into scoring position and made the most of the opportunity adding another goal to the tally. Hoosick falls did manage to capitalize late in the game and tallied a goal which left the final score at 3-1.
Many of our players are eager to try different positions on the field. Midfielder Luke Turetsky has taken to playing in the goal and this season’s regular goalie Ryland Crowley is developing as a field player.
This is the boys modified soccer team’s first win of the season and they were understandably ecstatic. All of our players have shown significant improvement this season and they are clearly having fun playing together. Coaches, Giumarra, Will Prather and Anthony Prather are very proud of our team and look forward to the last few games. – Coach Giumarra

Seniors, Joann Prather, Juliann Amuso, Tallulah Powers, Jessica Bosso, and Ashlee Evans all made strong starts, led by senior keeper Becca Madsen, who kept a clean sheet in goal, and senior captains Riley Robertson and Lizzy Hunt.
