The BNL JV baseball team has been working hard over the last week during practices to make improvements in their physical and mental baseball skills. Their hard work is starting to pay off. The BNL JV played two games this past week against Mechanicville.  They played home on Tuesday April 11th and traveled to Mechanicville on Thursday, April 13th.

Tuesday’s home game started off promising with Myren Losaw starting on the mound for BNL and holding Mechanicville scoreless after one inning.  Losaw continued to pitch well through three innings but lack of offensive production and defensive errors put an initially competitive game out of reach.

Traveling to Mechanicville on Thursday, BNL’s defense stepped it up with some solid plays by shortstop Myren Losaw and first baseman Alex Maxon. The bats also came alive in this game with 6 runs scored. Leading the charge was starting pitcher Jack Mace, who went 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. First year player, center fielder Mikel Chinchetru had 2 singles, second baseman Hayden Chittenden had a towering double, and Taygen Berry, Jeremiah Gates, and Alex Maxon each had a single. Jack Mace pitched 3 innings with 3 strikeouts and was relieved by Hayden Chittenden who pitched one inning. The boys played with more hustle and desire in this game and we look forward to their continued progress.

Coming up this week, the boys will have games on April 19th, 20th, and 21st.  They will be taking on Greenwich JV in Greenwich on April 19th.  BNL will then be hosting their Berlin Field home opener on April 20th against Tamarac. They will round off the week with another Berlin home game against Greenwich on April 21st. Come on out to the ball field to support the boys.
