BNL JV Boys Basketball Downs Saratoga-Catholic

The BNL Boys JV basketball team defeated Saratoga-Catholic 61-50 in a home contest on Tuesday, January 3rd.  BNL came out strong in the first quarter, putting up 26 points to Saratoga-Catholic’s 14.  The second quarter did not progress at quite the same pace for BNL, scoring only 6 compared to the Saints 17.  However, BNL still managed to maintain momentum and hold on to a slim 32-31 lead at half-time.

In the locker room at half-time, Coach Jaquish rallied the team together, saying, “They can’t hang with you guys. We dominated in the first quarter because we were executing on offense and defense.  We stopped doing that in the second quarter.  We get back to playing our game, and we’ve got this game easily.”

BNL took the halftime message to heart, outscoring the Saints to 29 to 19 on their way to a 61-50 win.  Pacing the offense for BNL was Anthony Ray who scored 19 points.  Mikel Chinchetru scored 15 points of his own and Kaleb Carabis added 8 points as well.  Also scoring for BNL was Jordan Harmon (5pts), Landon Jaquish (3pts), Thomas Dufor (2pts), Seth Hendricks (5pts), and Jeramiah Gates (4pts).
