On Friday, December 2nd the Berlin High School Student Council hosted its first Academic Pep Rally. BMHS students and staff were asked to show up in their green and gold and with all the school spirit they could rally.

The BNL Cheer Squad and the Berlin Mountaineer welcomed students by grade level to the gymnasium. Students then nominated who they felt showed the most school spirit in their grade level. The Berlin Mountaineer called on the students to select a winner by cheering. The staff also nominated their most spirited member and the students cheered again for the staff pick. Congratulations to 8th grade Mountaineer Gabriella Colangione and Science teacher Mrs. Hayes (pictured below)  for their Mountaineer Spirit wins!!!

Ms. Day helped emcee the event and took the opportunity to introduce BMHS’s new Assistant Principal, Ms. Amy Ferullo, who was wrapping up her first full week at BMHS.

Principal Brownell announced the Quarter 1 BMHS Core Value Mountaineers, who were nominated by their teachers. The BMHS Core Values include; empathy, integrity, pride, perseverance, teamwork and a growth mindset. Please find the list of students below. Ms. Brownell will be hosting a pizza party for these students later this month.

High School Student Council members took over the microphone from there and announced Quarter 1’s Merit List, Honor Roll and Principal’s List winners. These students then played games organized by the Student Council as their fellow Mountaineers and the BMHS staff cheered them on.

Thank you to BHS Student Council’s Nora Colin, Elsie Corbett, Sadie Giumarra, Cadence Church, Raymond Ericson and Connor Sniger and their advisors, Mr. Ellis and Mr. Covell, for making the Pep Rally a success.
