Berlin CSD’s Art teacher Ms. DeCelle and Technology teacher Mrs. Wetmore lead a field trip of both Visual Arts and Technology students to Adirondack (ADK) Studios in Argyle, NY on October 20th.

ADK Studios provides creative solutions for designers, artists, producers, and owners across the entire themed entertainment market.

”Rooted in theatrical production, ADK Studios is a collaborative partner that focuses on story and guest experience by examining thoughtful design solutions, innovative methods and materials, and out-of-the-box thinking across the breadth of the project cycle to bring a vision to life.”

While the students can not disclose what they saw in production, they witnessed first hand how ideas become reality.  HR Specialist, Maurice O’Connell, guided students on a path from idea to final product. In real time, they watched graphic designers, illustrators, computer programmers, artists sewing soft sculptures, sanding fiberglass molds for amusement park rides and massive 3-D printers.

During the introduction, students were allowed to hold sculptures that were used in the immersive Avatar Disney amusement park ride. In this unique example, ADK Studio actually built a 3-D world from a virtual world.

Berlin student Madison Lenyk, was excited that ADK created the Hershey Park Halloween themed park she was visiting that weekend!   Students came away from the field trip understanding that creating a vision requires the collaboration of many skill sets, and may take months to complete.

The departments hope to make ADK Studios an annual adventure. -Ms. DeCelle and Mrs. Wetmore
