BNL Varsity Boys Soccer vs OESJ Coach Recap 10/20
BNL traveled to the end of Section 2 to face Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District (OESJ) in the first round of sectionals. OESJ would strike first when #10 took on the whole defense and put his team up 1-0 1:30 minutes into the half. This would spark a BNL come back, in the 22nd minute Gabriel Hart volleyed the ball right to teammate Chris Shorter who tied up the game 1-1. It would stay this way the rest of the half with both sides taking their chances for the lead. But in the second half BNL came out hungry. Kristjon Culbertson would make a key 1 on 1 save in the 28th minute of the second half to keep the score 1-1. A few moments after Liam Buckenroth led Logan Healy, who would blow by the defense to score and make it 2-1. Chris Shorter added reinsurance with 2 more goals and end the night with a hat trick, both assisted by Logan Healy. The defense was on point all night keeping the team in the game while winning every head ball. Culbertson ended the night with 5 saves. The Boys keep dancing as they head to Maple Hill Saturday at 3 pm for the Class C Section 2 quarterfinal! -Coach Burhans
