The BNL Wrestling team has had an eventful week. Wednesday for Senior Night they had a double header match against both Rensselaer and Watervliet. Seniors Jesse Cameron and Matt Kluck were recognized. Both have been part of the team from their 7th grade Modified year, and are now this year’s team Captains. Both lead the team in wins on the season. And both have been leaders on and off the mat for the team for some time. They and their families will be missed by BNL Wrestling.
The team, although coming up short, did well against Rensselaer winning 4 of the 7 weight classes actually contested. Pins were registered by Conner Sniger at 138, Angelo Capozzi at 160, Nick Mosher at 215 and Jesse Cameron at 285. Senior Matt Kluck was not able to wrestle that evening recovering from a wrist injury. The Watervliet match was more one sided with only Jesse Cameron able to end up in the win column.
Saturday the team competed in the Section 2 Class D Tournament in Cambridge. Winning on the day were Matt Kluck at 172, Nick Mosher at 215 and Jesse Cameron at 285. Going 2-1 on the day, Matt came in 3rd place and will advance the Section 2 Tournament at Glenn’s Falls next Saturday. Fellow senior Jesse was 2-2 on the day coming in 5th missing advancing by one place. Going 3-2 sophomore Nick Mosher placed 5th in his first trip to Class Ds pointing to a successful future.
