What is your education background?

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in English and Criminal Justice from The College of Saint Rose.

I then went on to obtain my Masters Degree in Social Welfare from SUNY Albany with a MACRO concentration.

I also attended the SBL program at SUNY Albany and the SDL Program through SUNY Plattsburgh, earning both my School Building Leadership and School District Leadership Certificates.

What is your background like – previous jobs?

While attending graduate school, I worked in several different positions (Childcare staff, On Call Supervisor, Case Manager) at St. Anne Institute, a residential treatment program, 853 school and other community services. Upon graduating, I worked as a clinician on one of the intensive needs / hard-to-place units. From there, I went on to become the Program Director of the Equinox Youth Shelter, helping to serve runaway and homeless youth with 24-hour services. It was through my work at the shelter that I decided I wanted to work in education and transitioned into my role as the school social worker at Albany Leadership Charter High School for Girls. One year into my time at Albany Leadership, I was promoted to the Director of Student Support Services position, where I was responsible for the oversight of Special Education, School Counseling, School Social Work, Service Learning, Response to Intervention and English Language Learners. I then spent one year at Berkshire Union Free School District as the School Social Worker / Behavior Team Lead. Throughout my time at Albany Leadership and Berkshire I was working toward earning my SBL certificate. In July 2019, after completing my SBL program, I moved into my first principalship at St. Catherine’s Center for Children R & E May School. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to work in a variety of educational settings, with many different student & family populations.

Tell us about your family?

I have an older brother who is the chair of the Psychology Department at SUNY Geneseo. I have three beautiful nieces; ages 10, 8 and 7. My mom and my dad are both retired from running their own businesses, and live in Halfmoon, NY. I also have a 5 year-old Boxer, named Rocky, who is a very sweet boy!

What are your interests outside of school?

I enjoy playing volleyball, as I played through college and coached at the high school level for over 10 years. I also love to visit the beach, love being poolside and enjoying the sunshine! I really enjoy spending time with friends, love to read, and believe strongly that “Lifelong Learning = ongoing, voluntary and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge.”
