BNL Modified Boys Basketball Steps Up vs Waterford 12/18

The BNL Modified Boys Basketball team continued to demonstrate incremental improvement in a 43-20 loss to Waterford on Saturday.

Consistency has been one of the largest impediments to success for BNL thus far, but practice is beginning to pay off.  BNL players were able to create space for themselves on the court, opening up opportunities for passing, shooting, and overall playmaking on offense.  Improvements on defense are also becoming evident as well.

“The final score doesn’t reflect how competitive the game actually was and the growth this team is making.  The difference in this came down to Waterford scoring on the vast majority of their high-percentage layups and shots, while we did not.  If we matched their conversion rate, we would have had a chance for the win.  That should give us hope moving forward because with repetition, we can fix that.” said Coach Moseley.

BNL’s next game is against Cambridge on Tuesday, December 21st.

BNL Swim Team vs Wahconah 12/16

Wahconah did not have boys swimming in the meet so BNL swam the girls at the same time as the New Lebanon/Berlin Boys.  The Wahconah Girls got a victory over the BNL girls (BNL didn’t swim girl’s race) and the New Lebanon/Berlin Boys defeated the Wahconah Boy’s (since Wahconah didn’t have any boys to race).

BNL did score the meet as a co-ed meet for fun and BNL came out on top.

BNL had great swims by: Liam Buckenroth in the 200 & 500 Free with him dropping 10 seconds in the 500.  Carol Kirsimagi in the 200 IM. Allison Slater in the 100 Butterfly. Cadence Ward got a personal best in the 50 Free (Relay split).

BNL Modified Girls Basketball vs Tamarac 12/11 & Saratoga 12/15

12/11/21:  Both teams took on 2 tough Tamarac teams.  The B started it off with a win.  We were down by 2 baskets at the half.  Emma Shorter came back in the 2nd half and started hitting bucket after bucket earning 12 points.  Izzy Bink had 2 points and Amaya Brown had 4.  The A team had a super fast, super aggressive 1st half that we just couldn’t recover from. In the 2nd half we came back with a much more aggressive defense and were able to slow the Tamarac scoring, but we had difficulty with our shots falling.  Lilly Meyers had 3 points, Morgan Sharpe had 3 points and Charlie Young had 2. Players of the game were Emma Shorter and Charlie Young.

12/15/21:  The B team played Saratoga at home.  We started off the first half able to contain the Saratoga scoring.  The 2nd half we struggled with our defense and Saratoga didn’t miss a shot.  Although this wasn’t a win, we started doing some amazing things.  We just need to put our best offense and best defense together simultaneously.  Madison Rontey was able to get off 2 shots and pull the foul on each one.  Emma Shorter had 8 points, Amaya Brown had 5, Grace Pelletier had 2 and Layla Yerdon had 2.  Player of the game was Madison Rontey.
