On August 26, Pre-K and Kindergarten students who will be attending Berlin Elementary School this fall were invited to the new BCSD Transportation Facility for a Bus Orientation. The young students learned how to get on and off the school bus safely, buckle their seatbelts, safely cross and walk around the school bus. The students also took a ride around the bus facility to get comfortable with the bus routine.
The students and parents were able to ask questions of Transportation Supervisor Jeaneatte Alderman and Bus Dispatcher Layla Davis, who put the event together.
The Transportation Department sent each student home with a safety packet and a few goodies to remember the day.
Special thanks to student helper BHS senior Bailey Catlin, BCSD Transportation mechanics Andrew Davis and Keith McFarland and bus attendant Valerie Bell for helping with the day’s bus operations. BES Principal Tracy Kent and Director of Special Education Samantha Brewer were also in attendance for the orientation.
School is back in session next week! Please remember to watch for stopped school buses and make sure to stop when you see the flashing lights and stop sign. Thank you!
If you have questions about your bus routes please contact Layla Davis at ldavis@berlincentral.org or by phone 518-658-2812. Thank you for your patience and understanding as the Transportation Department works out any issues.
Please watch the bus safety video shared at the Transportation Orientation here for reminders and tips on how to be responsible, safe and respectful on the school bus.
The BCSD Transportation Deaprtment looks forward to seeing you all at your stop on Septemeber 7.
