Boys Varsity Soccer vs Tamarac

BNL 1 @ Tamarac 1

On Saturday our boys traveled through rain, snow and then rain to challenge the noisy neighbors from Tamarac.  The game went back and forth, and was well played.  BNL went down by a goal, but then put Spider-Sam (Sam Herrick) on the field and he shut down Tamarac’s best player.  Berlin- New Lebanon fought back and Winter Exley tied it up in the second half, if we were able to go to overtime this year I am certain we would have scored again.  Garrett Votra may have had the best game I have ever seen him play.

The BNL Varsity Soccer  team had a 1-1 tie vs a very competitive Tamarac team.  With the goal scored by Winter Exley.  Outstanding play from Danny Hunt, Sam Herrick, and Gabe Colin. -Coach Gould

Boys JV Soccer vs Tamarac

The BNL Boys JV Soccer team continued their unbeaten streak with a solid win over Tamarac 3-0.  Kristjon Culbertson got his first shutout with 7 saves. The defensive 5 had a strong game shutting down the Bengals offense. Chris Shorter added a goal and an assist, Brady Beckwith got his first goal of the season. Liam Buckenroth made a solo run through the whole defense to get BNL’s 3rd goal minutes later. With help from players off the bench the team finished the 2nd half in control only allowing 3 shots on goal.-Coach Burhans

Cross Country: Girls and Boys Varsity Meet vs Stillwater, Tamarac-Hoosick Falls and Hoosic Valley

The BNL Boys and Girls XC Teams went to Hoosic Valley on Saturday to compete against Hoosick Falls-Tamarac, Stillwater, and Hoosic Valley.

The BNL Girls began the day and made moves to take the lead at the very start of the race. Elsie Corbett ran alongside the number 4 girl in the state for most of the race before she came in behind her for 2nd place by only 30 seconds. Allura Meizinger ran alongside Stillwater’s girls until she made her break away in the last mile and secured the 4th place position. Sadie Giumarra, Hailey Beckwith, and Brady Hills came in as the Berlin Wall for 6th, 7th and 8th, which tied down the win for Berlin. The race also saw improvements. Addison Powell improved her mile split time and is getting faster every race now. The girls swept all 3 of their match ups for the day!

The BNL  Boys made an impressive showing. Matt Kluck battled back and forth with the front pack of boys, occasionally taking first, before finally coming in 2nd with an impressive time of 16:51. Michael Loughlin was hot on his trail and in the last 800 yards got into an exciting sprinting match with the number 1 boy from Stillwater before beating him in an insane test of endurance in the last 100 yards of the race ending in 3rd place. Aidan Van Dyk and Layne Jewett came in 12th and 13th after maintaining a solid grouping in the middle of the pack. Finally, both Eben Donahue and Carl Truax made impressive strides this meet to beat their personal records, with Eben taking 18th and Carl taking 23. Unfortunately it was not enough for the boys to beat either Hoosic Valley or Stillwater. We’ll get them next time.  Please prepare for lots of hill sprints this week XC! -Coach Viner
