Berlin CSD and Elementary School principal Tracy Kent are excited to welcome Mrs. Amy Glickman, Ms. Steliana Philip, Mrs. Theresa Stott and Ms. Kelsey Schuette into their new positions at the BES. 

 

Mrs. Amy Glickman RTI Reading Specialist

 

Mrs. Amy Glickman will be joining BES as the RTI Reading Specialist. Learn more about Mrs. Glickman in her own words.

I received my Undergraduate Degree in Elementary Education/Psychology from Russell Sage College and my Master’s Degree in Literacy from the University of Albany. I hold two certifications: Literacy B-6 and Classroom 1-6.

I started my teaching career in inner city New Jersey. While I was there I taught Kindergarten, Second Grade and Fourth Grade. In 2008 I moved back to New York. While in New York I have worked at Albany Community Charter School. I taught  Kindergarten, was the AIS Reading Teacher for grades K-5 and became AIS Coordinator for grades K-5. Last year I was a Literacy Coach for Albany City School District grades K-5.

I have a wonderful husband Patrick and eight year old daughter Lily. We live in Averill Park and my daughter attends Poestenkill Elementary School. My husband works in Rensselaer for Regeneron Pharmaceutical Company.

Outside of school I enjoy going to different state park lakes during late spring and summer, kayaking with my family, hiking with my husband and daughter, family camping trips and long bike rides. I also try making a new recipe once a week.

Ms. Steliana Philip RTI Math Specialist

 

Ms. Steliana Philip will be joining BES as the RTI Math Specialist. Learn more about Ms. Philip in her own words.

I graduated from Averill Park High School, and received my Undergraduate Degree and Master’s Degree from the State University of New York at Albany. My Undergraduate Degree is in Educational Psychology, and my Master’s Degree is in General Education, Special Education, and Literacy (K-6). 

I worked as a student assistant for the department of Atmospheric Sciences Research Center at the University at Albany. I completed my student teaching and special education internship at Arbor Hill Elementary School.

My family is Greek and my parents live in Averill Park. I have an older brother. I enjoy playing tennis and spending time with those who are close to me!

Mrs. Theresa Stott Teaching Assistant

 

Mrs. Theresa Stott will be moving into a Teaching Assistant position at BES this year. Learn more about Mrs. Stott in her own words.

I am looking forward to continuing to work in the Berlin Central School District. I am a 2010 honors graduate of Troy High School. I was always a bookworm and look forward to sharing my love for books with the students at BES. I am currently enrolled in classes at Hudson Valley Community College. 

I was a Monitor at BES during the 2019-20 school year and was able to get to know so many wonderful children. I cannot wait to continue working with the amazing staff and students at BES this year. 

I love spending time outdoors with my husband of nine years and my two children, Erin and Luke. We love to go fishing and take Jeep rides through the mud!

Ms. Kelsey Schuette 4th Grade Leave

 

Ms. Kelsey Schuette will be joining BES as the 4th Grade Leave. Learn more about Ms. Schuette in her own words.

I graduated from Cazenovia College in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Inclusive Elementary Education. I received my Master’s Degree from SUNY Oneonta’s Literacy program.

I’ve always found myself in an educational setting whether it was substituting, working at Malta Summer Camp or Girl Scout day camp. After graduating with my Master’s Degree I worked as a Middle School teacher for Washington – Saratoga – Warren – Hamilton – Essex (WSWHE) BOCES in their BEARS (BOCES Educating Autistic and Related Disorders) program. 

I am the middle child of five and the only girl. Teaching is a passion in my family, my grandfather, mother, and brother have been or currently are teachers.

I have many interests! I love sports and have volunteered at clinics as well as coached travel teams. I also love painting, drawing, reading and watching  movies.
