Berlin Central School Districts was recently awarded the School Safety Excellence Award from Utica National Insurance Group. The honor, presented annually, recognizes school districts’ safety efforts as they work to create a secure learning environment for students, staff and visitors.

Through the program, schools with their own transportation, schools with contract transportation, and BOCES are evaluated. Categories covered include bullying prevention programs, playground safety and other areas, and are measured using specific, quantifiable surveys.

The Berlin Central School District achieved earned the Titanium with Honors award, the Safety Excellence Award’s highest designation.  In recognition of the achievement, the district administration accepted a certificate to commemorate the district’s safety efforts and a $500 award for use in furthering those efforts from Utican National representatives.   The district received its award at Utica National’s 38th annual school safety seminar. Berlin CSD is a first time recipient of the award.
