Notice from BMS Counselor Mr. Shaw:
The Family Room Program in Schenectady has shared its next round of Youth Peer Support group topics as well introduced their Drop-In Support Group for Parents!

The support group for parents will be held at the Family Room on Mondays from 5:00-6:00 pm, starting March 3rd, 2025.
This will be a place where parents, guardians, or caregivers can connect with others facing similar challenges in supporting their children’s mental health. The group provides an environment to share experiences, access resources, exchange advice, gain emotional support, and discuss ways to advocate for their child’s well-being.

Both groups are a wonderful opportunity for individuals to connect, share experiences, and explore various topics related to mental health in a supportive and welcoming environment. Both groups are free walk-in peer support groups that doesn’t require you to sign up, and groups will go over various topics such as:
Understanding & Managing Anger
Planting Seeds of Confidence
Letting Go of the Winter Blues
Game Nights
More information on the flyers attached.

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!

We are excited to welcome the class of 2031 to BMHS! Mr. Shaw has found the following video to help students who are joining us in middle school (or who have come back and need a refresher) learn some important tips and tricks to help them be successful this year (and beyond).

Do you want to talk about it? Students can come see Mr. Shaw, the Middle School Counselor, in the Guidance Office! Or parents, feel free to email Mr. Shaw at jtaylorshaw@berlincentral.org and we can set up a time to discuss.
