BCSD PTO 2026-2027

 

 

The BCSD PTO is made up of both parent and teacher volunteers. Together we work to enhance and maximize the educational experience of our elementary, middle and high school students.
We welcome you to join us in our monthly meetings.

Thank you to the community for all your support during the 2025-2026 school year; your collaboration has been very valuable to our mission to support all Mountaineers. Thank you to all the volunteers and community members for their fundraising efforts. The BCSD PTO has been able to support field trips at all buildings, Scholastic book fairs, Picture Day, BES Holiday Shop, school events with auction items, DJs, magicians, and bouncy houses, creating staff appreciations, supplying t-shirts to create unity for students at competitions, among many other things.
All of these efforts are done with one goal in mind: to lift up and support our Mountaineer Community. We are a small group, but mighty with your support. Please consider joining us next school year and help us create even more opportunities for our Mountaineers and the wonderful staff in this district.
Special shout-out to teachers Mrs. Bersaw, Mrs. Laz, Mrs. Scanlon, and Mrs. Baker for bringing our group up a notch with their fantastic ideas and planning of many awesome family events at BES this year! Thank you!

Our school’s PTO is looking for enthusiastic individuals who are dedicated to helping our students and staff succeed. By volunteering, you can provide valuable support during school events, fundraisers, and other activities that help enrich our school community.

As a PTO volunteer, you’ll have the chance to work alongside other parents and educators in a positive and collaborative environment. You’ll also have the opportunity to use your skills and talents to make a difference in the lives of our students and our school community.

Our PTO meets the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm. We offer in person and online options to fit your schedule.

Mission Statement 

Our mission at the Berlin Middle School/High School PTO is to promote and foster communications between our constituents. This includes all members of our communities, parents, teachers, and the administration. Our PTO aims to organize and promote fundraising and community events which will deepen our Mountaineer spirit and pride while enriching the lives of our children through education, social and developmental experiences.

PTO Officer  Descriptions:

President
The President shall serve as leader and key contact for the PTO; preside at all PTO meetings; ex-officio member of most committees; appoint chairpersons for special committees; coordinate the work of the officers and committees so that the PTO’s objectives can be met. Advise on parliamentary procedures using Robert’s Rules of Order; bring current copy of By-Laws to all meetings.

Vice President
The Vice President shall act as an aide to the President; perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve; assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Board; coordinate the general activities of any Special Committees created by the Executive Board. Ideally – is willing to serve as President in the future.

Secretary
The Communications Secretary shall keep the minutes of all general meetings and all meetings of the Executive Board; prepare correspondence and perform all other duties assigned; maintain master documents; help recruit committee chairpersons for all vacant standing committees of the board; keep the calendar of events for the PTO.

Treasurer
The Treasurer shall be responsible for and have custody of all funds, along with the President; make disbursements as properly authorized; be present at all PTO events where money will be collected; assure that PTO policies and best practices are followed with regards to funds; prepare financial reports for each meeting and as needed; prepare the books for an annual audit.

Faculty Representative
The Faculty Representative shall serve as a liaison between the PTO Board and Staff. She/he shall perform other duties as may be prescribed by the Board from time to time.

Member at Large
The Member at Large is unlike other executive board leadership such as a president or treasurer; a member at large does not have a specific role. A member at large serves as a liaison to the general membership.

The BMHS and BES  PTO have set these Facebook groups up as a way for the BCSD community to communicate about upcoming events. We ask that kindness, respect and courtesy be given to all when questions, comments, or concerns are posted. We will not tolerate hate speech or bullying of any kind. There will be no promoting of any business. This is a private group only those affiliated with the Berlin School district will be allowed.
