The Berlin Central School District Pops Concert on February 11 featured the Senior High Chorus, Senior High Band, Chamber Choir, Jazz Band and 23 solo performances.

Mrs. Leslie Eliashuck, choral director, opened the evening with the Chamber Choir performing “Attention” by Charlie Puth, featuring Felicity Fleming. The Chamber Choir performed two more songs during the evening, “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper, featuring Chloe Demick, and “Let It Be” by the Beatles, featuring Riley Smith and Demi DeGennaro.

Mrs. Eliashuck’s Senior High Chorus performed, “Song of Purple Summer” from Spring Awakening, featuring Sarah Hicok and Nikifor Popov as well as “Livin’ on a Prayer,” by Bon Jovi, featuring Brianna Reger and Kendra Roberts. The chorus closed the evening with an inspirational “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, featuring Will Prather and Jordan Logan.

The Chamber Choir and Senior High Chorus were accompanied by Mrs. Jennifer Lopez on the piano.

This year’s Pops Concert had new additions: Instrumental Director Mrs. Jessica Gould’s Senior High Band and Jazz Band. The first half of the evening concluded with the Senior High Band performing a medley from Beauty and the Beast; and a “John Williams Medley” by John Williams.

After the intermission Mrs. Gould’s Jazz Band opened the second half with two swinging pieces, “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and “Hard Day’s Night” by the Beatles.

The evening’s 23 soloists featured high-energy performances such as Brady Hill’s rendition of “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor, and the sister acts of Brianna and Christina Reger singing “Blown Away” by Carrie Underwood and Macayla, and Kendra Roberts performed “Dusk Til Dawn” by Zane and Connor Maynard. “For Good” from Wicked was a student and teacher duet performed by Christina Reger and Mrs. Eliashuck. Mrs. Gould also took to the stage for a trumpet duet with Katelynn Keeler performing “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey.

Chloe Demick, Jaelyn Goodermote, Demi DeGennaro, Will Prather, Felicity Fleming, Jordan Logan, Nikifor Popov, Annie Weeden, and Jaidan Montanez gave piano and vocal solo performances throughout the program.

The evening’s lively hosting duo of Jackson Flowers and Demi DeGennaro did a wonderful job weaving the night’s performances together.
