Dear Berlin Community Members,

As we approach the start of the school year, we wanted to share some information for those who intend to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

To be fully vaccinated on the first day of school (September 7), the last day for students to receive the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine is Tuesday, August 3. This allows for the three-week waiting period between doses and the two week period after the second dose, to be considered fully vaccinated.

Please note this information only applies to the Pfizer vaccine, which is for ages 12 and up. The Moderna vaccine requires four weeks between doses, and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine requires only one dose. They are both for ages 18 and up.

While Berlin CSD is not requiring staff or students to receive the vaccine prior to returning to school, we encourage anyone who intends to be vaccinated to get their first dose before August 3, in order to meet the timeline above.
