BNL Girls Varsity Soccer

BNL Girls Varsity played a tough game at home resulting in a 3-5 loss to Waterford. After going down early in the first half, the girls equalized through a Rachel Bortnick goal, with Bortnick adding a second goal ten minutes later. Waterford responded with a goal of their own, before adding a third right before half. BNL came out strong at the beginning of the second half, with Bortnick completing her hat trick equalizing at three a piece. Waterford was able to wear BNL down however, and got two before the final whistle resulting in a 3-5 loss. Kylieanne Krause recorded 22 saves in the BNL net, and Jordanne Brazie and McKenzie Krause each registered an assist. The girls go on the road today to take on the mighty Emma Willard. -Coach Kanofsky

BNL Boys JV Soccer

The BNL Boys JV soccer team didn’t snap back from their Saturday game and got off to a slow start against Hoosic Valley. The team spotted Hoosic Valle 2 points before Chris Shorter connected for a goal. In the last 20 minutes of play BNL started firing on all cylinders and put 8 shots on goal forcing the Hoosic Valle goalie to make some hard saves and clanging the ball off both posts and the cross bar.  Levi Dodge was a big part of the team revving up and along with Liam Buckenroth played from one end of the field to the other. Kristjon Culbertson had 11 saves. Unfortunately the winning streak ended in a 1-2 loss. The team will end the season with a home game against Waterford on Thursday 4/22 at Berlin/Middle High School. -Coach Burhans

BNL 4 @ Hoosic Valley 2

On Monday 4/19 the BNL boys went to Hoosic Valley and after falling behind by 1 goal took the lead and never game it up.  I guess you could say that they all had a case of the Mondays as we came out slow in the beginning, but as we started to create more and more momentum we were up 2-1 at the half after two Winter Exley goals, then Kasey Billert came off the bench and scored 2 goals in less than 8 minutes, and things just started to fall our way.  The team created a lot of chances and held onto the momentum.  Excellent play by many players and a few stand out performances.  Kevin Chitternden was great in the goal, Garrett Votra continued his positive play, as Wyatt Powers, Danny Hunt, and Gabe Colin all helped to control the game in the midfield.  What a great team win. – Coach Gould
