As the 2026/2027 academic year at Berlin CSD approaches, students and families alike are experiencing a mix of excitement and anticipation. The transition to middle or high school marks a significant milestone for Mountaineers and their families.
To help with this transition, Berlin Middle High School Principal Mr. David Bernsley, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Ms. Meghan Reynolds, and BCSD Director of Instructional Innovation and Technology Ms. Ariel Gilbert hosted an orientation presentation on August 25th, specifically designed for 6th and 9th grade families.
The presentations included morning entry procedures, a Title I update, lunchroom protocols, daily expectations, and other important information to acquaint families with the new school environment ahead.

The BMHS administration would like to thank the staff members and Mountaineer students who participated in the building tours and presentations; BMHS School Counselors Ms. Savanna Caldwell and Ms. Elaine Heidinger, as well as Ms. Isabella Nicholas, Ms. Tammy Moore, Ms. Andrea Kozel, Ms. Amanda Hayes, Ms. Amanda Monk, and Ms. Lora Dunlop.
Following the orientation presentations, Mr. Bernsley, Ms. Reynolds, and Ms. Gilbert invited families to join them for a 6th-12th grade ice cream social. The social event allowed families, students, and staff to catch up and ask questions in a more informal setting. Thanks to Stewart’s Shops for the generous donation of ice cream and to Board of Education member and parent Ms. Elaine Smith, BCSD PTO members and parents Ms. Sroka and Ms. Turetsky for helping to scoop ice cream.
Thank you to all who came out to the events! We hope to see many 6th and 9th grade Mountaineers at the student WEB and LINK orientations on 9/3 from 12 pm – 2 pm at BMHS!
We can’t wait to see the growth that is sure to take place for the 6th and 9th grade Mountaineers this year!
