On August 19, Berlin CSD Transportation Supervisor Ms. Jeannette Alderman and Head Mechanic Mr. Rick Wager invited Pre-K and Kindergarten families to attend the annual bus safety orientation for the district’s youngest Mountaineers at the Transportation Facility.
The students and families learned about getting on and off the school bus safely, identifying danger zones around the vehicle, buckling seatbelts, and safely crossing in front of and walking around the school bus.
The highlight of the orientation was taking a ride with bus drivers, Ms. Barb Staples, and Bus Attendant Ms. Billie Jo Brock around the bus facility!
Ms. Alderman and Mr. Wager fielded questions from the students and parents during the event, and each Mountaineer went home with a safety packet and knowledge to prepare them for their first ride of the school year on September 8th. Special thanks go to Ms. Alderman, Ms. Staples, Ms. Brock, and Mr. Wager for helping incoming Pre-K and Kindergarten students become familiar with the bus and crossing procedures.
