Character Education is an essential part of the Berlin Mountaineer experience, and this year was no exception. At Berlin Middle High School the character education committee ended the year with arguably the most important part of our program, Kindness.
Students who were caught being kind were awarded with two bracelets, one they kept and one they gave away to someone else they thought was kind. Overall, over 80 bracelets were given out to our students, and it was remarkable how quickly students started asking how they could get one.
Members of the Character Ed group suggested that a teacher get an award too, and that teacher is one of the most kind, Mrs. Donna Kelly.
During the program, BMHS Counselors Mr. James Shaw and Mrs. Savanna Caldwell pulled Mountaineers’ names who were called out by their peers for showing kindness in the lunch room character ed mailboxes.
Exploring the impact of kindness at the end of the school year, when people can be stressed and overwhelmed, was a good reminder that kindness is one of the simplest things you can do and it has a ripple effect. – Mr. Robert Gould, Super Trooper and Character Education Advisor

Over the weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Gould visited Berlin Mountaineer Jaiden Quinones to present him with his Kindness certificate. Jaiden continues to work hard in his recovery after a recent traumatic accident. There will be a benefit for Jaiden on July 19th at the Stephentown Firehall; find more details on the flyer attached below.
