
Berlin Elementary Physical Education Department is excited to announce that two fifth-grade Mountaineers, Janiyah Devine and Ryan Sausville, were recognized last evening, May 11th, at Hudson Valley Community College for receiving the 2026 Capital Zone Sandra G. Morley Physical Education Student Leadership Award. Ryan and Janiyah were selected for exemplifying the characteristics of a true physical education leader.
This award is given to students who show leadership and excellence in physical education, with the criteria for the award as follows: they demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior, sportsmanship, and citizenship; desire to learn and improve; exhibit a physically active lifestyle; demonstrate leadership and are a positive influence on peers; and have contributed toward the school program.
The students were recognized and celebrated along with students from all over the Capital Region who also received the award.
Congratulations, Janiyah and Ryan, for your excellent leadership during Physical Education at BES. BES PE Teachers Mr. Sauer, Mrs. Sausville, along with BES Principal Cataldo are very proud of you!
